Our tīvaevae Group

Tīvaevae are far more than just blankets. They are considered the ultimate gift of love (aroha). They are handmade and are presented during major life milestones: They are highly treasured form of artistic quilting from the Cook Islands. The word itself literally translates to “patches” or “to stitch”

Cooperating with other groups

The Cook islands community also meet in the hall in Flaxmere for functions, activities pertaining to the Island, including a Pa Metua group – a gathering of older folks at the hall on a Thursday morning to socialise, maybe listen to a speaker or go on an outing.
