- Welcome, to St Andrew’s Church – Hastings
Haere Mai – Aere Mai, Kia Orana
Located in Market Street South, in the heart of the Hawke’s Bay City of Hastings, our church is a meeting point for many groups and individuals – perhaps for you!
The Church is more than buildings. We seek to be a caring fellowship, where people of different ages and backgrounds meet to face common concerns. St Andrew’s is a place where members and friends continue their faith journeys, focussed on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. We are encouraged and stimulated by sharing with others in worship, study and social events. We try to be open to those with questions and curiosity, who want to explore and make sense of historic Christian faith in a changing world.
Our Vision
Our vision is to participate in a society which will accept all people and strive for greater compassion. We will seek to live out Christ’s selfless love until we see God’s justice realised.
Our goal as a community of faith at St Andrew’s is to embrace and share the love of Jesus Christ:
By welcoming all people
By accepting everyone as an individual loved by God
By together enjoying the gifts of life
By seeking and learning together
By responding to the needs of the community
Our mission Statement at St Andrew’s Church Hastings
The Cook Islands community, which has long been part of this parish, promotes traditional Cook Islands worship and culture and seeks to integrate them into the wider life of the church. We welcome seasonal visitors, many from Vanuatu, who, from November to May, join in the extensive harvesting of the stone and pip fruit of this district.
St Andrew’s is part of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ), one of the mainstream Christian denominations, drawing particularly on Scottish and Celtic tradition.
We Belong to The Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand.
